What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)?
A CCRC is a residential community for older adults (typically age 62 and better) that provides a variety of housing options, along with services, amenities and a continuum of care designed to address the changing needs of residents as they age. The typical CCRC offers not only Independent Living options, but also Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Memory Care services.Back to top
What are the advantages of choosing a CCRC?
Studies show that people who live in CCRCs tend to live longer, healthier lives. They are able to stay connected and engaged with life. From the strong community support of neighbors to the full calendar of activities, there is never any shortage of things to do or people with whom to do them.
CCRCs like The Arlington give you the confidence and peace of mind that come with knowing you have made a secure plan for the future, including planning for the unknowns and "what ifs." You have the advantage of staying in control, making your own decisions about where you will live and who will care for you as you age, rather than burdening family by leaving those decisions for someone else to make later on.
Another advantage is that you are able to remain in the same community as your needs change. This alleviates the stress of moving multiple times and enables you to maintain existing relationships in a familiar environment. It also enables couples to remain close to each other, even if one person requires a higher level of care.Back to top
